Embracing the “Laptop Lifestyle”

Remote and On the Road? Read on for our top tips, tools, and life hacks!

The biggest excuse we all have for not taking that vacation or going on that adventure is having to work. Emails, research, marketing, and meetings are usually given priority out of necessity over adventuring, fun, and time with the family. But, what if you could have it all at the same time?

Traveling the road in a luxury camper van offers a unique blend of adventure and convenience.

One of the greatest perks?

The ability to work remotely, all while exploring new horizons. At Adventure Life vans, we understand the importance of creating a workspace within your van that is comfortable, reliable, and conducive to productivity.

Here are some tips to help you make the most of your remote work experience from the comfort of your luxury camper van (we’ve linked some of our favorites from Amazon, please note these are affiliate links!):

Boost Your Signal: Reliable cell service is essential for remote work. Installing a Weboost signal booster like the ones we offer in our van builds can enhance cell service in areas where it’s available, ensuring you have a strong and stable connection when you need it most.

Elevate Your Workspace: Utilize the countertop space in your camper van to create a functional workspace. Consider using a raised laptop stand to maintain good posture and maximize comfort while working.

Get Flexible with a Lagun Mount: The Lagun mount offers versatility by allowing you to transform various locations within your van into a workspace. Its adjustable design enables you to customize the height of your workspace for a sit/stand desk setup, ensuring ergonomic support throughout the workday.

Define Your Work-Life Balance: It’s important to establish boundaries between work and leisure while living and working from your van. Determine whether your travels are primarily focused on work or leisure, and plan your schedule accordingly. Be intentional about your work hours, and give yourself permission to unplug and enjoy the freedom of the open road once work is done.

Essentials for Remote Work: Consider other items that can enhance your remote work experience on the road. This could include noise-canceling headphones for concentration, a portable power bank for charging devices if you don’t have solar in your van, or a reliable mobile hotspot for backup internet access.

Working from the road offers a unique opportunity to blend work and adventure seamlessly. By creating a comfortable and functional workspace within your luxury camper van, you can embrace the freedom of remote work while exploring the wonders of the world around you. There’s no need to choose between working and adventuring. In one of our vans, you can do both, seamlessly, while still living every moment to the fullest. 🚐💼🌄

Thinking About DIY Van Conversion?

Consider This Comprehensive Checklist First

So, you’re dreaming of hitting the road in your own customized camper van, envisioning endless adventures and the ultimate freedom of van life. We get it – the allure of building your own van is undeniable. But before you dive headfirst into the world of DIY van conversions, let’s take a moment to consider what you’re signing up for.

Building out your own van is not for the faint of heart. It’s a labor-intensive process that requires a hefty dose of time, effort, and expertise. From sourcing the perfect van to designing and executing the build, every step along the way comes with its own set of challenges and decisions to be made.

To give you a glimpse into the magnitude of what you’re getting yourself into, we’ve put together a comprehensive checklist of all the tasks and considerations involved in DIY van conversion:

Choosing the Right Van: Researching and selecting the ideal van for your needs can be overwhelming. Factors to consider include size, make, model, age, mileage, and budget.

Designing the Layout: Planning the layout of your van is like solving a complex puzzle. You’ll need to consider your living space, storage solutions, sleeping arrangements, kitchen setup, and bathroom facilities.

Sourcing Materials and Components: Finding quality materials and components for your build can be time-consuming and expensive with no guarantee that it’ll be an enduring quality or that it’s been road-tested. And not just for appliances, but these same challenges can apply to every element of your build from the insulation and flooring to your cabinetry and furnishings, and the list goes on.

Building Skills and Tools: Unless you’re already a skilled carpenter, electrician, plumber, and mechanic, you’ll likely need to acquire new skills or enlist the help of professionals along the way. Plus, you’ll need a wide array of specialized tools to get the job done.

Navigating Regulations and Codes: Depending on where you live and plan to travel, there may be legal requirements and safety regulations that govern van conversions. Ensuring compliance can be a daunting task.

Time and Patience: Perhaps the most significant investment of all is your time and patience. DIY van conversion projects can take months or even years to complete, testing your perseverance every step of the way.

At Adventure Life Vans, we specialize in professional van conversions that take the stress and guesswork out of the equation. (If you’re ready to chat, schedule a consult here! How Our Camper Van Has Given Us Our Dream Life

Camper Van

Imagine this: the wind in your hair, the open road ahead, and the freedom to explore wherever your heart desires. For many of us, this dream of unlimited adventure seems out of reach, buried beneath the demands of daily life. But what if we told you that it’s not only possible but also easier than you think? Enter the world of camper van adventuring!

For us, the decision to embrace camper van travel was life-changing. Before, finding time for family trips and adventures was a challenge. But with our camper van, exploring became effortless. Hiking, mountain biking, road tripping – you name it, we’re out there, soaking up every moment of freedom and enjoying life.

Gone are the days of painstakingly planning every detail of our trips, only to spend half of it cramped in uncomfortable travel conditions. With a camper van, your vacation starts the moment you leave your driveway. No worries about leg room or luggage space – just you, your loved ones, and the open road.

What are some of our favorite van life adventures? Heading for the Central Oregon Coast to escape the summer heat. Or in the winter hopping over to visit some of Idaho’s best hot springs. One of my personal favorites is a romantic getaway to a hot springs in La Grande, Oregon that we could do on a weekend and enjoy every minute of it with the comfort of our camper van. Cool ocean breezes, endless exploration, relaxation, and nature at every turn – it’s a recipe for unforgettable memories.

And with so many amenities in our camper van, we never have to “rough it” or go without the comforts that make it a true vacation. We have a Webasto heater to keep us toasty on cold winter nights. A luxuriously comfy queen bed and cozy sleeping spaces for the kids ensure that all of us get a good night’s sleep every time so we can fully enjoy whatever is on the agenda for the next day. We don’t have to worry about staying in touch with family back home thanks to our Weboost cell signal booster. With our galley kitchen, we don’t have to sacrifice eating well on the road. We have a fridge and freezer, an induction cooktop, and a full-size sink with a pull-out sprayer faucet. And with our camper van’s heated outdoor shower and gear rinse, we don’t even have to dread a cold camp shower when we’re on a mountain top or deep in the woods.

But camper van adventuring is about more than just travel; it’s about connection. With our van, we can disconnect from the world as much as we choose and reconnect with each other, making memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a lifestyle that puts what truly matters into perspective.

Camper Van

If the idea of weekend warrior adventures and fully enjoying every minute of your vacation resonates with you, then camper van adventuring might be what you’ve been searching for. Reach out to us, and let’s start a conversation about how we can help you build the luxury van that’s perfect for you and your next adventure. It’s an investment in your life, your memories, and your dreams – don’t let them pass you by.

Happy adventuring!

3 Key Benefits of Reserving A Van Before It’s Built

Reserving A Van

Are you daydreaming about hitting the road in your semi-custom built van, ready to embark on endless adventures? If so, you’re not alone. The allure of van life has captivated many, but before you dive headfirst into your dream build, there’s one crucial step you don’t want to overlook: reserving a van in advance.

Vans Are Hard To Find

If you’ve been thinking about a van build, the first thing you’ll want to know is that vans are hard to find, ESPECIALLY ones that are AWD (that’s All-Wheel Drive if you’re just getting started in this world). And trust us, you are definitely going to want an AWD van for all of your adventures.

So in order to do a van build in 2024, you need to either already have a van, OR have a way of getting one quickly! Even if you have a van on order, it doesn’t ensure that you will receive that van in a timely manner unfortunately.

Let Experts Handle The Build

Instead of wasting time and energy searching for a van to build out, we will take care of that part of the process for you.

Reserving a van in advance saves you the hassle of hunting for the perfect van and ensures that your van build stays on track. With the logistics taken care of, you can focus on mapping out your road trip routes and envisioning the incredible experiences that await you on the open road.

Leave the hard work to us so that you can spend more time planning out your road trip adventures and start dreaming of your 2024 van life.

Reserving A Van Means You Get To Live Your Dreams

There’s nothing more heartbreaking than not getting to execute your plans.

Reserving a van in advance also ensures that you are on our build schedule and that you WILL have a van to use in 2024! And, when you’re on the road, it matters that you have a van that suits your needs.

Van Life Adventures: Summer Inspo

Van Life Adventures

The temperatures are still rather cold where we live in Boise, Idaho unfortunately. We’re experiencing what we fondly call “Second Winter” after a brief glimpse of spring a few weeks ago, but we can’t help it – we’ve got summer van life adventures on the brain!

We enjoy staying present in the current season and making the most of it. However, we also enjoy dreaming up the van life adventures we can have in the summer when the weather is much warmer!

In the spirit of dreaming about summer adventures, here’s a recap of some of the adventures we got up to last year to provide you with some inspiration for your own summer van life adventures.

Time Spent in Nature

Van Life Adventures

We are big advocates for getting outside as a family, which was why we were initially drawn to the van lifestyle ourselves. Our family loves to mountain bike, go on trail runs, and go on hikes together. We love maintaining an active lifestyle, and we also savor the calmer moments of summer amidst the chaos. That’s why we also love finding a great spot to admire the sunsets during our van life travels, and stay present during the moments that make our jaws drop from how stunning nature can truly be.

Beating the Heat during Van Life Adventures

As much as we love the warmer weather, we also enjoy finding ways to cool down on a hot summer’s day. Ice cream and cool treats is definitely our favorite way of doing so, but we also love finding swimming holes to take a dip in. Part of the fun is finding the best locations to cool off, and we’re so grateful that our camper van helps us explore new and uncommon places alike.

Good Brews and Good Views

Van Life Adventures

Letting our interests as a family guide our travels is one of our favorite techniques for planning our van life adventures. We love mountain biking, and our family takes part in mountain biking races, so we’ll travel in our van to each race, and camp out in it, to make the whole weekend feel like one big adventure. When the kids aren’t around, we love to scope out different breweries, so traveling in our van to a new city to explore their breweries is always a fun time for us adults.

We have lots of other suggestions, local guides, and road trip ideas that we love to share with you! We have tons of blog posts up about each of these topics, so be sure to check them out! We do suggest that you make some space on your van life adventure bucket list though because we’re certain you’re going to fall in love with these ideas!

If you’re wanting a van of your own to help you check off your summer adventures bucket list, then we’d love to help! We have ONE van build slot available, with building that can start as soon as March! This means you’ll have your van in July, which leaves you loads of time to go exploring this summer! Schedule a free consultation call with us today to get started!

Advantages to Winter Travel in your Camper Van

Advantages to Winter Travel in your Camper Van

Here at Adventure Life Vans, we advocate for continuous exploration, even when temperatures drop in winter. Winter travel presents unique advantages to van life that should not be overlooked. We’re going to highlight those advantages to give you the boost of encouragement you may need to give winter travel in your camper van a try!

Less Crowded Destinations

One of the primary benefits of winter travel is the reduced crowd levels at destinations. This translates to easier accommodation reservations for your camper van, and a clearer, more leisurely experience of the surroundings. Exploring new places with less crowds will also provide you with a deeper connection to the places you explore, and will lead to more moments being etched in your memory to look back on for a lifetime.

Gain a New Perspective

Exploring National Parks in winter offers a fresh perspective, with snow-covered mountains and a chance to witness wildlife in such serene settings. Nature’s allure remains captivating throughout the year, but the winter ambiance adds an extra layer of enchantment when fewer visitors are present. This coincides with the previous advantage of there being less crowds – it means your perspective on the places you visit, particularly National Parks, will feel incredibly special. With fewer distractions comes the opportunity to feel more present in the moment, and to soak up your adventures for everything they are.

A Warm and Cozy Camper Van

Returning to a warm and cozy van after a winter outing is the ultimate comforting experience. Equipping your van with a Webasto heater and Havelock insulation, as we do in our luxury camper van builds here at Adventure Life Vans, ensures you stay snug regardless of the outdoor temperatures.

We offer heater installations if you are interested in adding some warmth to your winter travel adventures in your camper van! For more information, you can check out this webpage that talks more about our extra services, and you can also schedule a free consult call with us! We’d love to help make winter travel in your camper van as enjoyable as possible so you get the most out of your van life journey.

Winter Activities with your Camper Van

Engaging in winter activities like skiing, snowboarding, and winter hiking (especially if the hikes lead to hot springs) are phenomenal ways to take advantage of the colder months, with the right gear of course. A well-equipped adventure van (like the camper vans we build) will help you get the most enjoyment out of these activities, offering warmth and comfort after a long day filled with winter escapades.

We encourage you to embrace the benefits of winter travel and make the most of the season’s offerings. If concerns about staying warm during winter travel dampen your enthusiasm, our van heater installation services can provide the solution you need. Contact us today to enhance the warmth and safety of your van life adventures!

Don’t have an adventure van of your own yet? We can help! We only have ONE semi-custom van build slot remaining for 2024, and we can start working on it as soon as March! So if you’ve been dreaming about van life for some time now, take this as your sign to take the first step in achieving your adventure dreams. Get in touch with us today to learn more about the semi-custom van build process! We’d love to help you make your van life dreams come to fruition.

One Important Note…

To make the most of your winter travel adventures, if you are using solar power to travel be sure your van’s batteries are equipped to function at lower temps. Solar charging may be limited in the winter months due to overcast/cloudy weather and shorter days. We install heated Battleborn batteries in our vans BUT all of these components have limitations when trying to use them in below freezing temps. Be sure to read your owner’s manual carefully for all of your van components to keep things running smoothly year round!
