Frequently Asked Questions - General
Who are we and what do we offer?
Hello! We’re Blake Prince and Erica Davis, co-owners of Adventure Life Vans, a family-owned camper van conversion company based in Boise, Idaho.
We build 3-4 semi-custom camper vans per year. Our vans are typically reserved in advance, giving our clients the unique opportunity to make some of the design decisions in their build.
We assist DIY builders and existing van owners through upfitting, repairs, and consulting.
Our bespoke vans are one of a kind and we pride ourselves on our perfectionism with our beautiful builds.
What’s your background?
We launched Adventure Life Vans in 2021 to help clients create their dream adventure vehicles.
Blake brings 20+ years of experience in home building, remodeling, and carpentry. Erica has built and developed companies, from teams of three to organizations of over 15,000 employees.
We are perfectionists to our core and want each client to have an optimal experience building, and using, their adventure van.
Why build vans?
We love exploring the outdoors with their family of four in Idaho. Our motivation for founding Adventure Life Vans is to support the same experience for other families, couples, and individuals who love the outdoors and want to enjoy some of the comforts of home at the same time.
What Can I expect from your builds?
We focus primarily on the Ford Transit chassis for our semi-custom builds, although we work with a wide array of platforms for upfitting, repairs and DIY consulting.
Our vans feature all the comforts of home with durable products our family has come to love and trust in our own adventures. You can expect a top of the line electrical system, full kitchen, comfortable sleeping area, plenty of gear storage, and off-grid/off-road capabilities in all of our builds.
How much does a build cost?
Semi-custom builds start at $90,000 (vehicle not included).
When is the next build slot available?
As of the latest information, build slots are open for the Fall of 2024.
What chassis/platforms do you work on?
We primarily build on the Ford Transit chassis. We have selected Ford for a variety of reasons, from easy repairs to a better on road driving experience. That said, we work on all types of vans and have experience installing products in Sprinters, Promasters, and many brands of RVs.
Do you have any vans that are built & ready for sale?
We occasionally have prebuilt vans for sale. Contact us for details.
Do you offer Financing?
We do not offer financing, however we partner with local credit unions that do. Contact us for details.
I want a van! What’s next?
Set up a discovery call to discuss next steps. On the call, we’ll walk you through our process and get to know your goals for your van build.
Do you do fully custom designs?
We do not …for several good reasons. The main reason? After building several vans for our clients, and ourselves, we’ve realized that most people quickly get stuck on the details when it comes to a fully custom build. We have several tried and true layouts we’ve road tested with our own family, as well as products we know are going to work for you every time. We want to take the headache out of van building, and so we’ve simplified the decision making process. Leverage our expertise to make your van building experience seamless and stress free!
Can i add an awning, door screens, off-road tires, and other cool things?
You can! We offer a variety of upgrades for your semi-custom van build.
can you build other vehicles that aren’t modern cargo vans?
We do not, however, we can still offer DIY consulting support and upfitting of your vehicle.
Will you ship my van?
Yes we will!
How much power do I need?
The quickest answer is “it depends!” and that is why we want to spend time with you getting to know what is sufficient for your van needs. A lot of it depends on what components you have in your van and how you intend to use it. We will help you sort through all of those aspects and make the right decision.
Do you build in heaters & air conditioning?
We do! All of our vans come with a heater as part of the base build. Air conditioners are upgrades to our builds, but we highly recommend installing one.
do you add solar systems to your vans?
We do! All of our vans come equipped with solar. No noisy generators around here.
can I have internet in my van?
You can! We install Starlink as an upgrade to any of our van builds if you wish to stay fully connected on your adventures.
